Philadelphia's Oldest Rescue Mission

Since 1878 Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission has been providing hope and help to the hungry, homeless, and hurting in the Philadelphia area. In addition to meeting the basic needs of the homeless, we provide support for those who wish to turn their life around and pursue education or job training. We also provide a transitional housing program for women and their children.

You can make a difference in the lives of the homeless by supporting Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission. We depend on the direct support of private donations from people like you. Please consider how you can help meet our current needs and provide financial support for our life-changing programs.

What's Happening

Neighborhood Picnic - 07.04.08

Our annual 4th of July picnic was enjoyed by more than 250 homeless men and women. The cookout was held in the parking lot behind the Mission, and the Obadiah Band provided live entertainment. Guests enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni salad, corn on the cob, chips and drinks. Thank you to the volunteers who helped to make this day possible!

It's Hot!

If you see a homeless person in need of relief from the heat, our day room is air conditioned and available for anyone who needs it. Please encourage people who are outside to visit us at the Mission. The day room can be accessed from the Mission's entrance on Pearl Street (at the corner of 13th St).

Challenge Grant - 07.16.08

Thanks to some special friends of the Mission, our 2008 Challenge Grant amount is $50,000. Currently, we have received $37,544 toward the goal. We're more than halfway there! Please send your gift today and help us step up to the challenge.

Kitchen renovations are underway!

If you'd like to see a complete list of items needed for the new kitchen click here. Check out the updated list (7/15/08), which reflects a 5% reduction in the price of each item.

Urgent need:

We currently need 8-1/2" x 11" spiral notebooks for the Learning Center. If you can help, please mail your notebooks or drop them off at the Mission.
