Building Repair Begins

Work has begun to repair the masonry along the top of our building, which is severely damaged and in imminent danger of collapse. The damage was first discovered when windows were being replaced. Once examined, the damage turned out to be quite extensive. The main problems are along the tops of windows and with the brick that extends above the building.

If the masonry is not repaired, a future strong storm could send bricks toppling to the street. This could render the entire building unfit for occupancy and suspend our feeding and shelter services. We don’t want this to happen!

We are grateful for the many donations that have been received to help with the cost, which is approximately $80,000. So far, we have received approximately $50,000. Additional help is greatly needed, especially as we enter the busy Thanksgiving season.

In addition to the cost of repairing the building, we still need to cover the costs of providing daily meals, shelter and recovery programs. If you are able to help with these needs, please make a donation online or mail your gift today. Thank you for helping!

  1. I’ve gone ahead and bookmarked http://www.sundaybreakfast.org/building-emergency at Digg.com and my site too – so my friends can see it too. I simply used Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission » Blog Archive » Building Repair Begins as the entry title in my Digg.com bookmark, as I figured if it is good enough for you to title your blog post that, then you probably would like to see it bookmarked the same way.
